N-1 Contingency Screening

Single-element outage screening on the IEEE 14-bus test system. Trip a line or transformer and re-solve the power flow — find the post-contingency overloads and voltage violations that would drive remedial actions in a real connection study.

Press "Run Power Flow" to solve.
Removes the selected branch and re-solves the power flow (N-1 screening).

  1. Run the base case (no outage). Note the loading on each line and the bus voltages. You should see all lines well within their 9900 MVA rating (the IEEE 14 case is unstressed by default) and all bus voltages within ±10%.

In a real consulting study you'd re-rate lines to realistic limits (e.g. 100–250 MVA at 132 kV) before running contingencies — the unrealistically high IEEE rating means everything 'passes' even with outages.
